Digital SLR Cameras: A Picture-Perfect Price Drop
Digital Cameras & Camcorders | Nov 23, 08
It seems that sellers of digital SLR cameras aren’t waiting for Black Friday to slash prices.
In the first half of November we’ve seen a drop of three percent in the level of the PriceSCAN Digital SLR Camera Index. As noted in our recent press release, this contrasts with a 9.6% decline for all of the preceding ten months. Of course, this sharp acceleration in the downward movement of SLR pricing comes ahead of Black Friday, and thus may reflect vendorss and manufacturers attempting to work down inventory in anticipation of an anemic holiday season.
The good news here is that you don’t have to wait until Friday to buy a digital SLR at a steep discount. For example, the most popular digital SLR on PriceSCAN, Canon’s EOS Digital Rebel XSi with EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens, which only a few months ago went for over $800, can now be had for under $650.
Of course, with Thanksgiving this close, you might have to spring for expedited delivery if you want to get your SLR in time for turkey day. But if you’re looking to save money and still capture that special moment when your inebriated uncle and your cousin “with issues" tussle over who gets to carve the bird, here’s your chance.
